Fans React Following The Series Defeat In Ireland T20Is

India endured a disappointing whitewash in the two-match T20I series against Ireland. They went down by just one run in the second game in Belfast on Sunday, June 28, failing to draw level in the series. Batting first, Ireland posted 154/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Debutant Prince Yadav impressed with a superb spell, registering figures of 3/22 in four overs. Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube also claimed two wickets each. In response, the Men in Blue were put under pressure immediately, losing both openers, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, in the very first over.

While Tilak Varma scored a fighting 55 off 46 balls, none of the other batters managed to stay long at the crease. India came close towards the end, but Ireland held their nerve to restrict them to 153/9.

Fans were left disappointed and heavily criticised India after the team suffered an embarrassing series loss to an Ireland cricket team side missing five of its key players, marking a new low for the Men in Blue.

“Gautam Gambhir has been made to eat a humble pie for his selection disasters. Time to smell the coffee and be grounded. India vs Ireland. T20 Cricket,” a fan wrote on X.

“India loses by 1 runs and are beaten 2- 0 nill by an inexperienced Ireland Team. Well done Ireland. Indian should remember International sport is all about present performance and not past reputation,” another tweet read.

Here are some more twitter reactions:

India had already lost the first T20I by 34 runs. Before this series, India had won all eight of their T20Is against Ireland, but this marked their first defeat as well as their first series loss against Ireland. Ireland also brought an end to the world champions’ 16-series winning streak in T20Is, outperforming India in both matches with an impressive all-round display.

Team India Look To Regain Form In England

Shreyas Iyer and Co. will be back in action soon as they gear up for the upcoming T20I series in England. They are scheduled to play five T20Is, with the series set to begin on Wednesday, July 1. With very little turnaround time and almost the same squad set to face England, the Men in Blue will need to quickly move on from the series defeat against Ireland cricket team.

However, they will certainly need to reflect on the whitewash and assess areas that require improvement ahead of the crucial England series.
