Team India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who has fully recovered from injury is raring to get back on the field. However, now he will have to appear for a fitness test to make a comeback to the national team.
Notably, Rohit Sharma copped up a blow midway of the New Zealand series and had to return home. He sustained a calf injury during the fifth T20I and came back to the country. Subsequently, he missed the three-match ODI series followed by two Tests.
Rohit Sharma to appear for a fitness test
The dazzling opener was also not a part of the three-match ODI series against South Africa, which got cancelled midway due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic. He was going through rehabilitation during that time. Rohit Sharma during e Facebook Live revealed that the week when the Central Government declared lockdown was set for his fitness test.
“Before the lockdown happened, I was almost ready to play. That whole week was going to be my fitness test but that’s when the lockdown happened and I had to push back everything now,” Rohit told LaLiga’s Facebook page on Saturday.
“Once everything opens up, I have to first go to the centre (NCA) and give my fitness test and once I pass the fitness test I will be allowed to go and resume my duties with the team,” he added.
Furthermore, Rohit Sharma admitted that the lockdown has made him miss his friends. It has been more than two months now India have under complete lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. However, things still look out of hands as the number of cases is shooting up with each passing day.
In conclusion, the cricketer from Mumbai revealed that he is looking forward to hitting some balls with his colleagues when normalcy restores.
