Lucknow Super Giants pacer Avesh Khan proved to be very expensive with the ball against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. The Faf Du Plessis-led team defeated the Super Giants by 14 runs to storm into Qualifier 2.

The Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, their bowlers could not take advantage of the toss. They conceded 207 runs in the first innings, with Rajat Patidar slamming an unbeaten century. Avesh Khan gave away forty-four runs in his four overs, at an economy rate of 11 with one wicket to his name.

A fan club of the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s franchise has shared a post trolling Avesh Khan. The Lucknow bowler gave Virat Kohli a smiling send-off after dismissing him in the ninth over. In a similar incident, last season, Avesh Khan smiled after bowling a dot ball against Royal Challengers Bangalore batter KS Bharat in the last over. However, Bharat smashed a six off Avesh’s bowling and guided his side to a victory.

In reply to the 207 runs first innings score, Lucknow fell 14 runs short of the target. Skipper KL Rahul scored 79 runs off 58 deliveries, while Deepak Hooda slammed a 26-balls 46. For the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Josh Hazlewood picked three wickets for 43 runs in his four overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore to take on Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2

After a brilliant victory, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on the Rajasthan Royals. The Sanju Samson-led team failed to secure a final spot in their first attempt. The second qualifier will take place on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The winner will play against Gujarat Titans in the finals of the Indian Premier League 2022 season on Sunday at the same venue.
