Former Indian test specialist VVS Laxman hit the news a week ago as he announced the launch of his autobiography later this year. Now, he is up with some interesting pick. He put forward his best Indian XI in English conditions.

Indian cricket flourished under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni. The legacy is taken forward by the current anchor Virat Kohli and he is ticking the boxes by winning in overseas conditions.

In a recent interview to ESPN Cricinfo, Laxman had no hesitation in naming Sehwag and Murali Vijay as the openers. The former who was known for his blistering starts created a fear factor to the opposition in the past decade irrespective of the conditions. Murali Vijay who hasn”t been in a fine touch now ended up as the highest run scorer for the visitors back in 2014. Though he will not be a part of the remainder of the series, Laxman gave him a berth in his XI.

As expected he named his fellow mates Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar in the middle order. The “Mahirat” combo also made to the list and it wasn”t a surprise. With a batting heavy squad,  his bowling line-up included the likes of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Kumble, Javagal Srinath and Yorker specialist Zaheer Khan.

As presumed Ganguly was made the captain of this legendary squad. Laxman amassed over 8000 runs for India in tests. He was known for his ability to bat longer as well as with the tail thus adapting to the longest format of the game.
