India currently is playing against Sri Lanka in a limited-overs series. Although India has been dominant throughout the series, Sri Lankan bowler Wanindu Hasaranga has caught everyone’s eye. The Sri Lankan team has been struggling in recent times and have not been in the best of forms. Among all this, the 24-year-old has been the bright spot in the team.
Hasaranga has emerged as one of the top all-rounders in world cricket. He currently holds the number two spot in the T20I rankings for bowlers. After registering figures of 2/28 and 1/30 in the first two T20Is against India in Colombo, Hasaranga has certainly shown his potential to the whole world which has caught the eyes of IPL franchises.
IPL 2021 was cut short due to the pandemic. The tournament is going to be continued in the month of September. Many players have announced their unavailability for the remainder of the season. Therefore franchises are looking at potential replacements for their foreign players.
UAE conditions will suit Wanindu Hasaranga
The pitches and conditions in UAE often favour spinners. The weather will be hot in the middle east and the pitches will most likely be very similar to the ones that have been presented in Colombo. The 24-year-old has certainly proven his worth as a spin bowler as he completely bamboozled the Indian batsmen with his mystery spin during the ongoing white-ball series.
Wanindu Hasaranga upholds the Spirit of the Game! 👏🏽

It has been reported that as many as 4 IPL franchises are looking to bag the 24-year-olds services. With the 2021 T20 World Cup also coming up, the all-rounder might also get a green signal from the Sri Lankan authorities as the experience of playing in the tournament could prove to be quite handy in the mega event later on.
The franchises that might be interested in him are Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The men in pink see him as a potential replacement for Ben Stokes who was injured during the earlier stages of the IPL.
On the other hand, CSK looks at him as a possible replacement for Moeen Ali who will be unavailable during that time. Virat Kohli & Co. may need his services as Adam Zampa had pulled out of the IPL and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
