Gautam Gambhir Set to Rejoin Team India on June 17 in England- Reports
Gautam Gambhir

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir will join the team on June 17 just three days before the first Test against England is to be played. Gambhir was missed as his assistant coaches Sitanshu Kotak, Ryan ten Doeschate, and bowling coach Morne Morkel took charge of the preparations of the team. India A A Hrishikesh Kanitkar also remained behind to help the team during the absence of Gambhir.

On July 11, Gambhir returned to Delhi after his mother fell ill and he therefore missed out on the three-day match between the Indian team and India A. His mother, however, has recovered since then and thus has been readmitted to the team.

Gautam Gambhir’s Return: A Boost for India’s Test Campaign

The presence of Gambhir surely gives the Indian team a lift since he is under pressure following two successive Test cricket series defeats. He was the head coach at the time when India was whitewashed in New Zealand and lost its important trophy, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, in Australia in the most shocking fashion. The tourists are likely to begin as underdogs with a young India team, as the captain, Shubman Gill, will not have the services of the experienced Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Yet the Asian giants are aiming to achieve their maiden test series victory on English soil since the year 2007.

Now that Gambhir is back on track, the team will be hoping that things will work out more in its favor this time around. The Indian team has hard work ahead in overcoming the challenge of the English conditions and the opposition team.

This is the first Test and it is quite near and close and the team is also going to be working on the final preparations over the next few days. The Indian team will be hoping to make a bold statement against England with the experience of Gambhir and will be hoping to come back with a much sought-after series win.
