Kolkata Knight Riders Gautam Gambhir did not hold back his comments during KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka’s heated conversation following LSG’s defeat to SRH.
Goenka’s intense chat with Rahul after LSG’s crushing 10-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier this week caused many people to take notice. Goenka met Rahul and head coach Justin Langer on the field after SRH destroyed LSG’s chances of making the playoffs with 166 runs in just 9.4 overs. He was seen berating them.
Goenka was observed expressing his aggravation about the significant loss, as he was agitated about it. The LSG owner has been under fire from several sources for his actions, which have not gone over well with the public.
In the midst of all of this, Gautam Gambhir has made a subtle jab at Shah Rukh Khan by referring to him as the best franchise owner he has ever worked with.
Gautam Gambhir opens up about his special relationship with the KKR owner
Mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gautam Gambhir, discussed what makes KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan unique among Indian Premier League (IPL) owners. Gambhir was questioned over his relationship with Shah Rukh Khan during a chat with Sportskeeda. Inquiries were also made about his experience working with SRK.
“I have had a fabulous relationship with him (SRK). I think I have said this before and on every platform. For me, he is the best owner I have worked with. And the reason is not just that he is humble or pretty grounded,” Gautam Gambhir said on Sportskeeda.
“There are many reasons why, when you enter the profession of sports, sports is such a big leveler and there are no retakes in sports. In movies, you can have retakes, but in cricket or sports, if you play a bad shot or bowl a bad ball, there’s no coming back.” Gambhir said.
“I don’t think he has ever interfered in cricketing matters. And that is such a big deal for someone like me because you have that freedom when it comes to decision-making. You have that trust that whatever decisions I’ll take, I know he’s going to back me. And more importantly, that’s why we have the results as well,” he said.
“My relationship with SRK has been fantastic, and not just recently, but since I joined KKR as a player in 2011. And now, when I joined in a different capacity,. KKR is an emotion for me. That’s why I feel that whenever a relationship’s foundation is built on trust, that trust goes a long way. I think it’s the trust between the both of us because I know he won’t involve himself in cricketing matters,, and he knows that whatever decision I take, it will be in the best interests of the team.” Gautam Gambhir added.
From 2011 until 2017, Gambhir captained the Kolkata Knight Riders, enjoying a very successful time in that role. The Knight Riders won their first championship in 2012 and then again in 2014 under his leadership.
