Gujarat Police Questions SRH Cricketer Abhishek Sharma In The Model Tanya Singh Suicide Case: Reports

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Abhishek Sharma underwent questioning by the Gujarat Police in Surat on March 6 regarding the presumed suicide of model Tanya Singh. Reports indicate that the cricketer was interviewed for approximately four hours.

Tanya Singh was found hanging at her Surat residence on February 19. Her father, Bhanwar Singh, discovered her body when attempting to wake her. The 28-year-old lived with her parents and enjoyed a substantial following on social media.

According to news agency PTI, police mentioned that Abhishek Sharma was in a relationship with Tanya until seven months ago. The report further indicated that authorities had requested the cricketer to present himself for recording his statement.

After an initial investigation, the police discovered that Tanya and Abhishek had been in communication in the past, and Tanya had sent text messages to the cricketer. Abhishek underwent questioning at the Vesu police station for nearly four hours. An unnamed official stated to the news agency:

“We questioned Sharma about his relationship with Tanya Singh and since when they knew each other. It was revealed that both broke up six to seven months ago. Though she used to send him text messages over the phone, he had stopped replying to them.”

Previously, a report in The Indian Express asserted that Abhishek had blocked Tanya’s phone number and was unresponsive to her messages on social media.
