Hardik Pandya Breaks Yuvraj Singh’s Record With Historic T20I All-Round Show

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya etched his name into the record books during the fifth and final T20I against South Africa by surpassing Yuvraj Singh for a unique national milestone. Pandya became the Indian player with the most instances of scoring a half-century and claiming at least one wicket in the same T20I match, achieving the feat for the fourth time.

Walking in with a strong platform laid by Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, Pandya unleashed a breathtaking assault on the South African bowling attack. Batting alongside Tilak Varma, he showcased raw power and confidence, peppering the field with boundaries and maximums that reflected both flair and authority.

Match-Winning Knock And Key Breakthrough

Pandya’s innings was nothing short of explosive, as he smashed 63 runs off just 25 deliveries, striking five fours and five sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 252. While his bowling figures of 1 for 41 in three overs appeared expensive, his contribution with the ball proved crucial. He dismissed Dewald Brevis at a critical juncture, cutting short a dangerous knock of 31 off 17 balls.

This all-round performance placed Pandya ahead of Yuvraj Singh on the elite list, with Virat Kohli and Shivam Dube also featuring among Indians to have achieved this double on multiple occasions. Pandya’s ability to influence the game in both departments once again highlighted his value as a match-winner.

Series Impact And India’s Dominant Finish

Returning to international cricket through this series, Pandya ended as India’s third-highest run-scorer, accumulating 142 runs in three innings at an outstanding average of 71.00 and a strike rate close to 187. He struck two half-centuries, both coming in victories, and also chipped in with three wickets across the series. In the final match, India posted a formidable 231 for 5 after Tilak Varma and Pandya added 105 runs for the fourth wicket.

South Africa responded with intent, led by Quinton de Kock’s aggressive 65, but regular wickets derailed their chase. Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded the bowling effort as South Africa were restricted to 201 for 8, handing India a 30-run win. Pandya was named Player of the Match, while Varun earned Player of the Series as India sealed the series 3–1 in emphatic fashion.
