The Mumbai Indians- Royal Challengers Bangalore had all the ingredients to be exciting before the defending champions had the last laugh. Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Hardik Pandya and Bangalore’s Chris Morris were reprimanded by the match referee for breaching IPL‘ Code of Conduct.

Meanwhile, the incident took place during the fifth delivery of the penultimate over of the match. Soon after Hardik Pandya got out, Chris Morris gave him a fiery send-off. The batsman responded more angrily and was seen animated during his long walk back to the dugout.

However, the war of words started from the fourth delivery when Hardik Pandya produced a spectacular shot to dispatch Chris Morris for a six. Soon after hitting the ball, the Mumbai Indians all-rounder made some gestures to the Proteas star which didn’t go down well and he gave it back after dismissing Pandya off the very next ball.

Both players admitted to the charges levelled against them. Chris Morris to the Level 1 offence 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and Hardik Pandya to the Level 1 offence 2.20 of IPL’s Code of Conduct.

Speaking about the game, Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten match-winning knock nullified the good start provided by Devdutt Padikkal and Joshua Phillipe. Royal Challengers Bangalore had managed to post 164 runs after another poor show in the death overs thanks to Jasprit Bumrah.

At one point, it looked like a close contest with Bangalore picking three wickets to bring themselves back in the game. But Suryakumar responded to the recent snub from the Australia tour with the best way possible to take Mumbai Indians home. He looked calm and composed even in front of repeated sledging from Virat Kohli to finish his job.

Mumbai Indians currently are at the top of the table with 16 points and on the verge of qualification with two matches to go, while RCB are on the second spot with 14 points from 12 matches.
