“He Has Pace, A Big Heart To Bowl The Difficult Overs” – Gautam Gambhir Lauds Avesh Khan

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir was all praise for pace bowler Avesh Khan for his performance in the first T20I against South Africa at the Arun Jaitely Stadium on Thursday. India lost the match by seven wickets, as South Africa chased down 211 in the last over.

The Indian bowlers struggled to contain runs and managed only three wickets in the match. However, Avesh Khan bowled well conceding 35 runs in his four overs. He went for 15 runs in his first over as Temba Bavuma and Quinton De Kock took him on. The pacer made a good comeback in his next three overs, conceding only 20 runs.

Gautam Gambhir, who was Avesh Khan’s mentor at the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2022 edition lauded the Indian pacer. Speaking on Star Sports, the former cricketer expressed that Avesh has the talent to make it big. He said,

“This bowler has a lot of talent, he has pace, a big heart to bowl the difficult overs. But I will want to see him improve further in every match. He is a young bowler, only the IPL should not be his goal, the T20 World Cup is coming ahead.”

If one player pushes the other, then you can bring out a better performance: Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir further expressed that the presence of Mohsin Khan in the Lucknow Super Giants squad pushed Avesh Khan to perform well. Mohsin had an impressive debut in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. He took 14 wickets from just nine matches and maintained an economy rate of 5.96.

“It is a good thing if one player pushes the other, then you can bring out a better performance from the other player, which you want. Your squad is a good one when every player is pushed, the other player comes and pushes you and Mohsin Khan did that exceptionally well,” said Gautam Gambhir.
