Indian wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson is one of the best talents that the country possesses. Unfortunately, his inconsistency has been often been a concern. The right-hander has not been able to cement his place in the Indian team. Former India batsman, Wasim Jaffer feels Sanju Samson hasn’t done justice to his talent playing for India.
In a video released on Wasim Jaffer’s youtube channel, he said that Sanju Samson needs to shrug off the inconsistency tag.
“Sanju Samson is another player I am looking forward to. I want him to do well. He’s an exciting player but somewhere I feel he hasn’t done justice to his talent for the Indian team. He’s obviously got runs in the IPL but somewhere I feel there’s a tag attached to him which says he hasn’t been consistent. He gets runs and then you’ll see three or four low scores and then after a while, he scores runs. I feel we need to see him rectify that,” Jaffer said.

Sanju Samson made his India debut back in 2015 against Zimbabwe but hasn’t got a fair run. He has played seven T20Is, scoring just 83 runs at an average of 11.86. The right-hander has always come under the scanner for his inconsistency in the IPL. He averages less than 30 in 114 IPL games. However, in IPL 2021, he has so far had a great run, scoring 277 runs in seven matches at an average of 46.16. Wasim Jaffer feels Sanju needs to bat with the same responsibility for India.
“I saw that change in him this season when he was captain for the Rajasthan Royals and he batted very responsibly in a couple of games. You know, that’s what we need to see him do because he’s an outstanding talent,” Jaffer said.
The limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, starting from July 18 will be crucial for Sanju Samson with the ICC T20 World Cup in sight.
