Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was at his best in the recently concluded India’s tour of England 2022. Pant kicked off the tour with a brilliant Century in the test match at Edgbaston and ended the tour with a century in the ODI at Manchester. It was a tour to remember for Rishabh Pant. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjarekar was in awe of the rise of Pant in the last 18 months.
Manjarekar praised the responsibility which Rishabh has shown in Test cricket. Sanjay stated that it’s impossible to perform consistently in test cricket without being responsible. He also called Pant a big match winner who can turn matches on his own.
Speaking on Sports18, Sanjay Manjarekar said, “He is always responsible. Responsibility-wise, I think this guy is just incredible because of the kind of record he has in Test cricket. You can’t play those kinds of innings if you are not responsible by nature, wanting to win the game.”
Sanjay Manjarekar further praised the calmness of Pant and said, “In this one-dayer as well, he was responsible personified, he was calmness personified. I got very excited watching Rishabh Pant because there is something about this country of ours, the waters of India, that we keep producing these kinds of batters every generation.
“Hopefully I remember this for a lifetime” – Rishabh Pant on his maiden ODI century
Rishabh Pant has been in fantastic form in Test and ODIs in the last two years. He played with great maturity in the final ODI under pressure situations. Pant himself was delighted with the way he played under pressure. Rishabh said that he would like to remember this knock for a lifetime.
Rishabh Pant said, “Hopefully I remember (this knock) for the rest of my life. I was focusing on one ball at a time when I was batting. When your team is under pressure and you bat like that .. something I aspire to do. I always enjoy playing in England, at the same time enjoy the atmosphere and the situation.”
