Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir is one of the lethal fast bowlers in international cricket who helped win Pakistan so many matches with his bowling. Amir played a crucial role in the T20 World Cup 2009 and Champions Trophy 2017 win of Pakistan. Amir’s rivalry with Rohit Sharma is a very renowned.

Amir dismissed Rohit Sharma in T20 World Cup 2016 and in the final of Champions Trophy 2017. However, the India captain dominated him in ODI WC 2019. In 2016 , when asked about his views on Mohammad Amir, Rohit Sharma called him an ordinary bowler. Amir didn’t give him any reply at that time.

But in a recent interview, Amir said that he doesn’t take Rohit Sharma ‘s statement seriously. Amir replied, “I don’t take Rohit Sharma’s statement seriously. Everyone has its own opinion and it is impossible that everyone regards me as a world-class bowler. There is nothing to feel bad about it and as a professional.”

Amir also hailed Rohit Sharma as a world class batter. Mohammad Amir on A Sports said, We should not take such things in a negative way. You cannot be everyone’s favourite. No doubt he is a world-class batsman. I bowled well every time I have faced Rohit and he struggled while facing me, still I will call him a world-class player.”

“He is just a normal bowler” – Rohit Sharma views on Mohammad Amir in 2016

Rohit Sharma in 2016 said that Amir shouldn’t be given this much hype after one good match. The 35-year-old advised people to stop comparing Amir with Wasim Akram. Rohit Sharma said:

“Stop talking about him already. He isn’t the only bowler, Pakistan have five other bowlers who are doing well for them. There is just so much hype around him.”

“I don’t think it is right to give him too much hype after one match. He is good but he needs to prove it over and over again. Now people are comparing him to Wasim Akram and all that. He is just a normal bowler, on that given day if he is good, he is good. It is not as if he turns up and blows everyone away,” Rohit Sharma said.
