The much-anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 final is set to take place at the Dubai International Stadium on March 9 (Sunday), where cricketing giants India and New Zealand will clash for the prestigious title. This is only the second time in the tournament’s history that the two teams will face each other in the final, the first being in 2000 when New Zealand triumphed over India in Nairobi.
History of India vs. New Zealand in ICC Events
The last time India and New Zealand met in a Champions Trophy final was in 2000, where the Black Caps, led by Stephen Fleming, defeated the Men in Blue, captained by Sourav Ganguly, at Gymkhana Ground in Nairobi. That loss still haunts Indian fans, and this final presents an opportunity for redemption.
India’s Past Champions Trophy Wins
India has an impressive history in the Champions Trophy, having shared the 2002 title with Sri Lanka and winning the tournament outright in 2013 under MS Dhoni. If they secure victory in 2025, it will mark their third title (second outright). New Zealand won their only Champions Trophy title in 2000, and after losing multiple ICC finals in recent years, they are eager to reclaim the silverware.
