Team India’s fielding has been terrific in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 so far, with several outstanding efforts by the players. The latest addition to the spectacular performances in the field is Shreyas Iyer’s stunning catch to dismiss Devon Conway during the match against New Zealand on Sunday, October 22 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala.
The incident took place during the fourth over of the New Zealand innings. Mohammed Siraj bowled a fuller delivery onto Devon Conway’s pads. The New Zealand batter flicked the delivery to the right of Shreyas Iyer, who was at square leg. Iyer dived parallel to the ground to pull off a breathtaking catch. Devon Conway had to walk back for a duck in the innings.

Team India’s Best Fielder Medal tradition in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023
Team India batter Shreyas Iyer was ecstatic with his fielding effort to dismiss Devon Conway for a duck in the match. He also gestured at the fielding coach, T. Dilip to award him the Best Fielder medal for the outstanding effort. This is a tradition started by T. Dilip to award the Best Fielder medal following each match to recognize and appreciate the fielding efforts.
Ravindra Jadeja won the medal in the last match against Bangladesh. T Dilip acknowledged the fielding effort of others after the match. He later announced Ravindra Jadeja as the winner of the medal on the big screen in the stadium. Meanwhile, in the first match against Australia, Virat Kohli received the medal for his brilliant catch at slip to dismiss Mitchell Marsh. All-rounder Shardul Thakur won in the second game, while wicket-keeper KL Rahul was awarded it for his brilliant effort against Pakistan.
