Former cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has picked arch-rivals India and Pakistan in his top four teams to make the semis of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The marquee tournament will kickstart on October 17, with UAE and Oman as the hosts.

During an #AskAakash session on Twitter, the former cricketer was asked about his semifinalists for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Aakash Chopra responded with,

“India Pakistan England West Indies”

England and West Indies are in Group 1 and will face each other in the group stages on October 23 at the Dubai International Stadium. Whereas, the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan are in Group 2 and will square off against each other on October 24 in Dubai.

Aakash Chopra also shared his thoughts on what could be India’s spin bowling combination for the tournament. He has picked all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and veteran Ravichandran Ashwin along with one from the duo of Rahul Chahar and Varun Chakravarthy. He tweeted, “Jadeja Ashwin Chahar/Varun”.

I am actually shocked: Aakash Chopra on Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad

The Indian selectors picked five spinners for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, in the UAE. However, they left out India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is, Yuzvendra Chahal.

In a conversation with the Espncricinfo, Aakash Chopra expressed his disappointment over Chahal’s exclusion. He termed the leg-spinner as probably the second-best T20 spinner in the world. Chopra opined that though five spinners in a squad is a luxury, India will not need that many.

“I took it for granted that Yuzvendra Chahal would be there as he’s your No.1 T20 spinner. He’s probably the second-best T20 leg-spinner in the world after Rashid Khan. You picked five spinners and there’s no Yuzvendra Chahal. That’s not surprising. It’s shocking. Five spinners in a squad is a luxury and you don’t need that many spin bowlers in a tournament,” Aakash Chopra said.
