Afghanistan face New Zealand in a crucial game in group 2 of the ICC T20 World Cup. The match holds symbolic importance for India who plays Namibia in their last group game on November 8. If Afghanistan beats New Zealand tonight, it will give India a chance to make it to the semifinals while a New Zealand win knocks them out of the World Cup. Former Pakistan pacer Shoab Akhtar has made a massive comment on the game.

The former Pakistan pacer said that an Afghanistan win against New Zealand can have massive implications on the cricket world. Akhtar expressed his opinion on the probability of India making it to the last four all on the back of one result, which is already touted as the match that will be watched by a billion Indian fans between Afghanistan and New Zealand.

Shoaib Akhtar said that an Afghanistan win can actually divide the cricket world into two halves. He further said that social media will be flooded with mixed reactions if the Afghans win and make it easy for India’s way to the semis.

“India’s fate is now in New Zealand’s hands. If New Zealand lose [to Afghanistan] a lot of questions will be raised, I’m warning you. I’m afraid that it will become another trending topic. I don’t want to get into any controversy but sentiments of Pakistanis are really high at the moment as far as New Zealand is concerned,” said the Rawalpindi Express on his official YouTube channel.

“I think New Zealand are better than Afghanistan. If, God forbid, they don’t play well and lose, that will be a problem. Nobody will be able to stop social media if it happens and we have to take that into consideration,” he added.

Shoaib Akhtar, on the other hand, also said that if India makes it to the semi-finals it will be good for cricket overall. “I don’t want to get into any controversy but sentiments of Pakistanis are really high at the moment as far as New Zealand is concerned,” said the Rawalpindi Express on his official YouTube channel.

The 46-year-old former Pakistani cricketer captioned his post as saying, “World Cup becomes very interesting. It seems like India is heading closer to the miracle which looked impossible. New Zealand will be under a lot of pressure against Afghanistan. It will be a virtual quarter-final for them.”
