The ace-off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the number 1 ranked bowler during the ICC Test bowler rankings. Before the 4th Test match at Ahmedabad, Ashwin and James Anderson were joint number 1.

Ravichandran Ashwin had a brilliant outing in the 4th Test match at Ahmedabad. He picked 6 wickets in the first innings against Australia on a placid batting pitch. It was a superb spell of bowling as he got the breakthrough for India dismissing Travis Head in the first session.

He went wicketless but produced the magic on the 2nd day by picking wickets of Cameron Green, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Todd Murphy, and Nathan Lyon to finish with figures of 6 for 91. He also picked the wicket of Matt Kuhemman in the second innings also. In the bowling rankings, Ravindra Jadeja slips down one place to number 9. Jasprit Bumrah has been injured for quite a long time.

In the batting department, Usman Khawaja jumps two places above with well-made 180 runs in the first innings. Daryl Mitchell played brilliant innings with the man of the match-winning performance in both innings jumping four places.

Rohit Sharma occupies 10th place with an impressive knock in the first innings against Australia. Virat Kohli showed his class by making 186 runs and climbing 8 places up to number 13th in the rankings.

In the all-rounders ranking, Ravindra Jadeja occupies the number 1 slot. Axar Patel played brilliant 79 runs and picked important wickets in the 4th Test match moving two places up to number 4.

Ravichandran Ashwin was superb with his line and lengths during the 4th Test match. He showed his class during 4 match Test series against Australia being the joint men of the series award along with Ravindra Jadeja.

Meanwhile, former India captain Virat Kohli, who after a gap of over three years, smashed his first Test century and was thus moved up seven places to be ranked No. 13 on the list. Once the World’s No. 1 ranked batter across formats, Kohli had fallen out of the Top 10 in July last year after his poor performances, and his knock of 186 helped him.
