Virat Kohli-led India is getting ready for the marquee clash against Joe Root and co. in England. The series contains 5 matches of the purest form of the game. Meanwhile Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has said that India needs to have a good start to keep their hopes alive for making it into the next World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Notably, India has struggled a lot in the English conditions. This is the reason the world cup winning spinner Hogg feels the England series hold huge importance for India. Meanwhile, if India commence the WTC cycle with a loss, they will be under tremendous pressure heading into the next games

In his latest YouTube video, Brad Hogg discussed the upcoming India vs England series. Also, he talked about how important is the series for both teams.

“India have 19 games, out of which they will need to win 13 games to get into the WTC final. They are playing western teams on their home soil where they have got a huge advantage. But away, England is where their nightmare could begin. If they don’t start well against England, they will be on the backfoot early and will have to catch up,” Brad Hogg stated.

England will play India and this is what I feel will decide their fate: Brad Hogg

Meanwhile, Brad Hogg feels two big series for England will be at home against Virat Kohli-led India and the Marquee Ashes in Australia. The legendary spinner opined that England will have to defeat India and then Australia to make it into the WTC final.

“England will play India and this is what I feel will decide their fate whether they will play the WTC final after two years or not. If they can dominate India, win four out of the five-Test matches and not allow India to win, have a draw in the fifth Test, that sets them up perfectly. They then have to beat Australia at least twice on their home soil to have a chance of reaching the WTC final,” Brad Hogg concluded.

The first Test of the 5 match Test series between India and England will begin on August 4 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
