“In Our House, We Call Him Superman, The God Particle” – Shah Rukh Khan Reveals The Special Cricketer In His Home

In Shah Rukh Khan’s house, there’s a special place for a cricketer, and it’s not Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli. It’s Sunil Narine, the all-rounder for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Shah Rukh Khan, who co-owns KKR, has a lot of praise for Narine. He calls him the “Superman” because of his amazing performances. Narine has been with KKR for over ten years, and he’s been crucial to the team’s success.

He’s known for hitting big sixes, scoring lots of runs, and taking important wickets. In this IPL season, Narine has already scored a century and two half-centuries, as well as taking almost a dozen wickets. Thanks to his efforts, KKR is currently in second place on the table. If Narine keeps playing like this, KKR might finally break their streak of not winning an IPL title for over ten years. “In our house, we call him Superman, the god particle.”

“He’s a boss on the field, a player, a bowler, a batsman, a wicketkeeper, a fielder. He’s an ‘anything’ player,” Shah Rukh Khan shared on the Star Sports show ‘Knight Club presents – King Khan’s Rules’ about the 35-year-old veteran player, who played a crucial part in KKR winning the trophy in both 2012 and 2014. Narine holds the record for the most wickets taken by an overseas spinner in the IPL.

He secured 21 wickets in 2012 and 24 wickets in 2014, contributing significantly to KKR’s victories in those editions and helping them claim the IPL titles wearing their purple and gold jerseys.”He’s so spirited, so lovely. We’re very fortunate to have players, Indian or foreign, who have deep feelings for the team… Sunil, like I said, he’s an ‘anything’ player.”

Shah Rukh Khan Stresses the Importance of Narine and Russell

The Bollywood actor emphasized that Narine and fellow countryman Andre Russell were essential to the team’s identity, stating that if either of them were to get injured, it would severely impact the team’s performance.

“Imagine KKR without these guys. When they get injured, it feels awful to wonder how we’ll manage without them. It’s so crucial. They’ve been with us for so many years, and I think the way they have supported the team, they’re like part of the family,” said Shah Rukh.

Shah Rukh Khan praised Russell for his unique sense of style, stating that the cricketer is a trendsetter in fashion. The mohawk hairstyle that Russell popularized when he first joined the IPL is still fashionable today, despite more than ten years passing since it gained popularity thanks to the West Indian player.

“Such a wonderful person to be around, and such a great cricketer. He reminds us of the first big man like Universe Boss, Mr. Gayle.”

“He’s like that, and I love the fact that he’s very fashion-conscious. He likes to dress well, do his hair. Last night, I asked him, ‘Do you have some two-colour shoes?’ He said no, but he has designer spikes. So I said, ‘Are they Gucci designer spikes?’ Wow! Yes, well, I love the way he’s a fashionista.” Russell has forged a strong bond with Rinku Singh and Shah Rukh says their camaraderie reminds him of Jai-Veeru in the iconic movie ‘Sholey’.”

He continued, “Rinku and he have such a strong bond, like the Jai-Veeru friendship. They’re so different, yet they love each other and help each other as cricketers and as people. They’re so different, yet they love each other and help each other as cricketers and as people.”

Gautam Gambhir, the team mentor who rejoined KKR this season after being with Lucknow Super Giants, will forever be remembered as an icon for the team. He led KKR to two IPL titles and helped them reach the playoffs on five occasions.

“The great thing about Gautam Gambhir being back with us is that I never felt like he left us. Whether he’s in our team or mentoring someone else, there’s never any animosity or competition with him.”
