Rohit Sharma brought up his 26th T20I fifty after he won the toss and opted to gat first in the third T20I in Kolkata. India have challenged themselves in the final game by opting to bat first and see if they can win defending a total.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was dismissed shortly after he reached his fifty. He hit a ball straight to Ish Sodhi who took stuck his right hand as the ball stuck in his hand. Rohit fell in the 12th over of the Indian innings.

Ishan Kishan (29) opened the batting in place of KL Rahul. He added 69 for the first wicket with Rohit. He fell to Mitchell Santner who took three wickets in his spell. After Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav (0) and Rishabh Pant (4) in quick succession putting the Indian middle-order under pressure.

Rohit Sharma at the toss specifically spoke about testing his batters and how they do while batting first and setting up a score.

“We are going to bat first. Pitch looks a little sticky and we want to challenge ourselves as a batting unit. We gotta try various things and this is one of them. We want to put runs on the board and give the new set of bowlers a target to defend. KL and Ashwin are rested. Ishan and Chahal come in. We are very clear as to what we want to do that’s why Ishan has to wait for his opportunity, Chahal as well, he has been a champion bowler for us” said Rohit.

Rohit Sharma Gets to 30th 50-Plus Score In T20Is

This was Rohit Sharma’s 30th fifty-plus score, the most by any batsman in T20I international cricket. Virat Kohli (29) Babar Azam (25) and David Warner (22) are next on the list.

India have already won the series-winning their first two games. However, the Rohit Sharma-led side will be keen to finish the series on a high by achieving a cleansweep.
