The second One Day International between India and New Zealand ended with no result as the match was abandoned due to rain played at Seddon Park, Hamilton on 27 November 2022. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first. Shubman Gill looked in decent touch showing intent with lovely shots while Shikhar Dhawan struggled initially. The match stopped due to rain as the scoreboard read 22 for 0.

After a long rain delay break, the match was reduced to 29 overs side. It was not ideal for India as Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed caught by Ferguson at mid-on. The powerplay overs were reduced to 6 overs. At the end of the first six overs, India made 25 for 1.

Suryakumar Yadav was promoted to number 3 and put enough pressure on New Zealand bowlers with aggressive shots. Surya looked in sensational touch hitting some innovative shots against Bracewell and Santer. Shubman Gill played with intent keeping the momentum going for the Indian team. It was a lovely play by both Surya and Gill not allowing Kiwis bowlers to settle.

The final ODI match will be played at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on 30th November

Shubman Gill looked in aggressive touch hitting boundaries with ease. Surya Kumar Yadav kept the pressure on New Zealand bowlers to keep the scoreboard ticking. The rain arrived with the scoreboard reading 89 for 1 in 12.5 overs. Surya and Shubman Gill added unbeaten 66 runs for the 2nd wicket. It was unfortunate as the crowd at Hamilton was not able to see attacking cricket after Gill and Surya Kumar looked to attack the Kiwi bowling.

The Indian team had 2 changes as Deepak Hooda and Deepak Chahar were the 2 changes while New Zealand had 1 change as Michael Bracewell was bought in. The match was called off after persistent rains.

The series is at 1-0 in favour of New Zealand with 1 match to spare. Both teams got 5 points in ICC ODI Super League. Both teams will meet each other in 3rd and final ODI match to be played at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on 30th November.
