The Chennai Super Kings so far has struggled to win matches in IPL 2020. The usually consistent side has crumbled under pressure and their chances now to qualify for Playoffs looks bleak. Last night MS Dhoni’s men lost to Delhi Capitals in the last over at Sharjah.
After yet another defeat this season CSK now have only won 3 out of their 9 league matches. Now to qualify for the IPL 2020 playoffs CSK has to virtually win all their remaining 5 matches.
How CSK Can Qualify For IPL 2020 Playoffs
Thus far Chennai Super Kings have only clinched 6 points in the season and are sitting at the bottom half of IPL 2020 table. In the past, we have seen teams turn their season around in the IPL and gain winning momentum in the business end of the tournament.
Famously Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 and 2016 respectively won their last 5 matches and found a place in playoffs. CSK this season have to do exactly that and treat all their left matches as do or die encounters.
CSK Needs To Win Their Last 5 Matches
Usually, aside is guaranteed a spot in the top 4 in IPL when they have 8 wins. In rare cases, teams have also entered the playoffs with 7 wins as their Net run rate has been positive after completion of 14 matches.

Meanwhile, if CSK loses one more match, they will then have to win 4 matches with a healthy run rate and hope some results go in their favour. However, if the 3-time IPL champions win their next 5 matches in a row it is highly likely that they would finish at either the 3rd or the 4th spot in the table.
Furthermore, CSK will be keen to bounce back in their next contest when they face Rajasthan Royals at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
