Chennai Super Kings have had eight losses from 11 games in this IPL season so far. CSK skipper MS Dhoni’s willow has yielded 180 runs in the season thus far. Seeing Thala Dhoni struggle with the bat like never before, former Indian skipper Kris Srikkanth said that his team is missing the MS Dhoni of old. Dhoni in his prime in the IPL was a ferocious hitter of the cricket ball. He was a finisher par excellence in the death overs. However, in this season, Dhoni has failed to deliver his best. One of the reasons thought of is his age, which has now inching closer to 40.
Talking to Times of India, Srikkanth said that CSK is missing the MS Dhoni of old at this point.
CSK Needs MS Dhoni Of Old-Kris Srikkanth
“I have seen many great batsmen get in to a rut and unless you possess the greatest of technique, the best way to come back to form is to take an aggressive approach. Dhoni should have played like the Dhoni of old, where he was fearless and attacking,” Srikkanth told Times of India.
The slide in his batting form can be gauged from the fact that he has hit only seven sixes in this season so far. He has hit 13 fours, which proves that he has found batting tough this season.

Mumbai Indians, tracked the chase down in 12.2 overs and won the match with as many as 46 balls left. Ishan Kishan (68 off 37) was particularly aggressive in his innings. He was well supported by Quinton De Kock (46 off 37). The pair hit a total of 18 boundaries as the CSK bowlers failed to take even one wicket.
The loss has put CSK back again at the bottom of the points table. They are now with six points from 11 games and unlikely to make the playoffs. Meanwhile, Mumbai have gone up to the first position in the points table with 14 points and a better net run-rate (+1.448).
CSK now will have to win their remaining games by nig margin and a lot of other things to go their way, if they are to make the playoffs.
