With still three days to go for the IPL 2020 opener, Gautam Gambhir has predicted his winner of the first game between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Talking to Star Sports, the former KKR skipper has backed Mumbai Indians to beat Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2020 campaign opener.
Mumbai are ahead by 17-11 in the head-to-head count between both the teams and Gambhir feels that the Rohit Sharma-led side will bag another win on September 19. Historically Mumbai have been bad starters in the IPL, but Gambhir has put his money on the four-time IPL champions.

“I feel the Mumbai Indians have the upper hand if you see the balance and depth of the squad. “I feel the Mumbai Indians have the upper hand if you see the balance and depth of the squad,” Gautam Gambhir said on the Star Sports Cricket Connected.
He further said that he is looking forward to watching the pair of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah bowl in tandem.
“They have also added Trent Boult to their squad, who will give them a very good option. Because you want a bowler who can give you wickets with the new ball so that you can use Jasprit Bumrah in a different manner.”
“So I will want to watch how these two perform, not only in the first match but in the entire tournament” he further added.
CSK have already lost Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh even before the season has started. Both the experienced players have decided to opt-out from the season citing personal reasons.
IPL 2020 will be played in the UAE after BCCI understood that hosting the tournament in India was not an option given the constant rise of COVID-19 cases. UAE will be playing host to the tournament for the second time after 2014.
