Kings XI Punjab beat Mumbai Indians in the second Super Over of the game to win match 36 of IPL 2020 in Dubai. It was the second Super Over of the day after the match against SRH and KKR also ended in a Super Over. Winning this game, Punjab keep themselves afloat in the race for the playoffs.

They have now six points from nine games with five more to go in the league stage. Every game is a must-win for the team. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle was angry with his team after helping them to win a crunch contest.

I Was More Angry And Upset – Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle in interaction with Mayank Agarwal after the match said that he was angry and upset after Punjab failed to win the game inside the first 40 overs. However, Chris Gayle also admitted that it is a game of cricket and anything can happen.

“No I wasn’t nervous (laughs). I was a bit more angry and upset that we got ourselves in this position. But it’s a game of cricket and these things do happen,” Chris Gayle told Mayank Agarwal on IPLT20.com.

Gayle further said that Mohammed Shami was the Man of the Match for him for the way he bowled in the first Super Over. Jasprit Bumrah gave away just five runs after Punjab batted first in the first Super Over.

Shami then matched Bumrah’s yorker for yorker as he restricted Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock for five runs taking the game to another Super Over.

“Shami is the man of the match for me. To defend six runs against Rohit and de Kock, that’s fantastic. That’s a great job. I have faced you in the nets and I know that you can nail those yorkers, and nail them well. Today he came and delivered and brought it home for us” said the Universe Boss.

Kings XI Punjab won three games in this IPL so far this season. Barring the first game vs RCB, their next two games were hard-earned wins. They won off the last ball against RCB in the second leg after Nicholas Pooran managed to take them over the line. Their second win against Mumbai came off the second Super Over of the game, after nearly 44 overs of play.

Interestingly, KXIP lost their first game of the season against Delhi Capitals also in a Super Over.
