The IPL 2020 caravan moves along as we head into match seven, between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This will be the third match in Dubai inside the first week of the tournament. We bring you the preview of DC vs CSK game.

Both teams come into this contest on the back of contrasting results in their previous encounters. While Delhi won against Punjab in the Super Over, Chennai lost to Rajasthan. CSK vs DC has been an enriching contest in the past.

Heading into the CSK vs DC contest in Dubai, both teams are looking for a win. CSK was outplayed by Rajasthan in their last game, while Delhi narrowly escaped defeat against Punjab after Mayank Agarwal threatened to take the game away from them big time. The CSK vs DC match is thus expected to be a capital contest.

Chennai was totally outplayed by in their last game. Sanju Samson and Steve Smith launched a terrific assault on the Chennai bowlers, who are not used to being treated the way they did. They lost the plot completely by RR’s counter-attacking style of play.

Clash of titans when Delhi play Chennai

CSK missed their senior players Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir in the match after Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla were taken to the cleaners. Jofra Archer provided the icing on the cake with his brilliant strokeplay as well. CSK were also loose on the field, as they committed a few errors in the field as well.

MS Dhoni’s batting position became a heated point of debate in the last game, something that the management will put their head into. He batted at number seven against Rajasthan. He will consider himself giving a little more time and possibly bat at number four against DC. Overall, CSK need to get their act together after being literally humbled by in the last game.

Delhi Capitals will consider themselves lucky after their Super over win over Punjab in the last game. CSK vs DC, however, is a totally different ball-game. Delhi have been dominated by CSK in the past and will keep that in mind.

They were good with the ball against Kings XI Punjab, however, it was their batting that did not stand-up. Misunderstanding in running between the wickets, wrong choice of shots to get out, there was everything from an inexperienced Delhi line-up.

Heading into the CSK vs DC match, Ricky Ponting and co would surely do their homework and figure out a way to win against Chennai.

Head to Head- CSK vs DC

Out of the 20 games played between the two teams, CSK have won 14 as compared to Delhi winning six games. in many ways, CSK vs DC is similar to KKR vs MI in the IPL. In the last five meetings between the two teams, CSK have won four, Delhi just one. In the last 1-=0 CSK vs DC contests, its 8-2 in Chennai’s favor.

Weather And Pitch Conditions

The weather in the desert is expected to be hot and humid as it has been seen in the first two games. Dew will have a big role to play in the outcome of the game, this is also evident as well. Captain winning the toss will prefer bowling first to negate the impact of dew later on. However, batting first is not a bad option given if you are ready to give yourself time early on in your innings to reap the rewards later as KL Rahul did against RCB in match 6.

The pitch has assisted the spinners in the first two games and the trend will continue. 157 and 163 were the scores in the first two games batting first and is expected to be on the same lines going into the third game at the venue. Wicket to wicket bowling in the death overs is a handy option as was proved by Navdeep Saini against SRH.

Team News

Both teams have been marred by injuries coming into this particular contest. Delhi will be missing Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma, while CSK will miss Dwayne Bravo for a few more matches as well. Ambati Rayudu also has been ruled out for a few matches due to injury.

Thus given the situation, expect a lot of changes in the playing XI for both teams. Delhi have a good to play Amit Mishra in place of Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane in place of Prithvi Shaw who failed in the first game for DC.

If Chennai wants to strengthen their spin attack by including Imran Tahir in place of Lungi Ngidi remains to be seen.
