Kolkata Knight Riders finally got their first win in IPL 2020 after they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets, They chased down the required total of 143 in 18 overs and won with two overs to spare. Kolkata have now moved up to the fifth position in the points table.

The KKR vs SRH contest was a memorable match for young Shubman Gill as he was awarded the Man of the Match for his unbeaten 70 off 62 balls.

Alongside him was England skipper Eoin Morgan who finished unbeaten on 42 as Kolkata eased to victory. The Gill-Morgan pair added an unbeaten 92-run stand as Kolkata picked up crucial two points. Nitish Rana, who walked into bat at number three for KKR scored 26 off 13 balls and added 37 with Gill inside the powerplay.

Kolkata display a clinical performance

Earlier, in the KKR vs SRH contest, David Warner won the toss and elected to bowl first. Pat Cummins drew first blood for Kolkata in the contest dismissing Jonny Bairstow for just 5. Varun, Chakravarty, who replaced Sandeep Warrier in the game picked up the key wicket of David Warner (36) just after the first time-out. Manish Pandey scored a 38-ball 51 as Sunrisers finished on 142 for 4.

Overall, it was a clinical performance from KKR, who did not need the services of Andre Russell in this encounter. Russell however, did his bit with the ball, taking the key wicket of Pandey in the 18th over of the Sunrisers innings.

Both teams move on in the IPL after this game. Kolkata play Rajasthan Royals in their next game in Dubai on September 23, while Sunrisers after two back to back losses in their first two games will play against Delhi Capitals, still looking for their first win of the campaign.
