Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant coped up with a hamstring injury in their win over Rajasthan Royals earlier in the season. However, Pant’s injury turned out to be of grade one level which has forced him to stay out of the team. He was advised a week’s rest after which re he resumed training again with the physio of their team. Meanwhile, in his absence, Delhi lost to Mumbai Indians and pulled back a win over Rajasthan Royals in their return fixture.

The Delhi Capitals Twitter handle shared a video of the youngster having a training session. However, it did not quite work out the way he wanted. The hard-hitting Delhi batsman was body-shamed by the Twitterverse, who did not lose an opportunity to take a dig at him.

Meanwhile, after beating the Royals, Delhi are back again at the top of the points table. Meanwhile, Pant has scored 176 runs in six matches for Delhi so far in this season. He has a highest score of 38 this season and has hit only five sixes. He has been striking so far at 133.33 this season.

Delhi missed his big-hitting prowess in the match against Mumbai which they lost. Ajinkya Rahane has replaced him in the playing XI at the moment. Pant sitting out has also seen a forced change in the team. Shimron Hetmyer has been asked to si out to complement Alex Carey for his wicketkeeping abilities.

Pant’s injury comes at a really wrong time for the Capitals, who have been consistent so far in the tournament. He will be badly missed in the middle-overs in the death overs of their innings when they really needed a kick on.

“We have no idea (on Rishabh’s availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony after their win against the Royals, when asked about Pant’s injury.
