The Kings XI Punjab outplay Delhi Capitals in a crucial encounter in IPL 2020 at Dubai. KL Rahul’s men recorded their 3rd consecutive win this season and keep their dreams alive of qualifying for playoffs.

Chasing a target of 165, KXIP lost both their prolific opening batsmen KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. Then Chris Gayle came to the crease and made his intentions clear from ball one. The ‘Universe Boss’ dominated from the getgo and played a quickfire cameo of 29 from mere 13 balls.

After Gayle, it was the turn of Nicholas Pooran who once again played a sublime counter-attacking knock. The Southpaw batted fearlessly and took on all the bowlers of Delhi Capitals. Pooran struck 53 in just 28 which proved to be a match-winning knock.

In the end, KXIP chased down the target comprehensively with an over to spare.

Earlier in the match, Shikhar Dhawan once again put on a show and brought up back to back centuries this season. By doing so Dhawan became the first-ever batsman to score 2 consecutive hundreds in IPL history.

Meanwhile, apart from him no other Delhi batsman could get going and they ultimately reached a par score of 164. Eventually, this wasn’t enough and Dhawan’s outstanding knock of unbeaten 106 came in a losing cause. Here’s what the winning captain KL Rahul said in the post-match presentation.

“Especially when you play with 6 batters and one all-rounder. One of the top four had to do the job. One thing that we need to look at. Shami was coming in after some confidence from the last game. Arshdeep bowled two overs in the powerplay and one over at the death. And he nailed 6 yorkers. Glenn has been batting well in the nets. He is a great team man and we know the balance he brings to the table”.

“The talk before the last couple of games was to beat two teams were at the top of the points table. I couldn’t sleep after the last game. We could have finished it before and not allowed it to go into the super over. The game reminds us to stay humble. We would want to take the momentum forward and take it one game at a time”, said KL Rahul.
