The IPL 2021 Auction is all set to be held in Chennai on February 18. It will be broadcasted live on Star Sports network in India from 3 pm and on the Hotstar app for live streaming. As many as 292 players will go under the hammer as the franchisees will battle it out amongst themselves to get the best player as per their team requirements. Kings XI Punjab will enter into the auction with a maximum purse of Rs 53.20 crore.

10 players have the maximum bracket of 2 crores as the base price. Those players are namely Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav are the two Indian players in the list. Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood are the overseas recruits in the list.

Meanwhile, there are some specific rules and guidelines which have been laid down by the BCCI. All the franchisees must follow the same as well. The guidelines are written below.

IPL 2021 Auction: Rules & Guidelines

1) All franchisees will be given a maximum purse of 85 crores for the auction. No franchise will be allowed to buy a player beyond their purse balance.

2) The franchisees can spend a maximum of 75% of the money in the auction. In a case where a franchise completes its squad in 70% of the money, the remaining 5% of the balance will directly go to the BCCI.

3) The Right To Match option will not be available to the franchisees in the upcoming auction. To re-sign a released player, hence, franchises would need to be involved in the bidding war.

4) The squad strength of maximum and minimum players have already been set by the BCCI. The number of players in each squad cannot exceed 25 at any condition, while the minimum number of players in each squad has to be 18.

5) The BCCI has also set a limit to the number of maximum overseas players a team can have, which is 8. They have however not set a lower limit to the number.

The franchisees will have very few representatives to preside over the auction. Members will also be available virtually as well.
