In a major boost to Chennai Super Kings, CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed the availability of fast bowler Josh Hazlewood for the remainder of IPL 2021. The second phase of the tournament will take place in the UAE, which starts on September 19 with three-time champions locking horns with defending champions Mumbai Indians.

Hazlewood, who missed the first phase of IPL 2021 will travel to the UAE for the second leg to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup, slated to take place in the UAE and Oman, starting October 17.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed Hazlewood would join the rest of the squad in the UAE after BCCI confirmed that players who missed the first leg can join their respective teams for the second leg if they are fit and available.

“Hazlewood has confirmed his availability for the second phase of IPL starting from September 19. The BCCI has confirmed that players who were not available in the first phase can join the respective teams in the second phase if they are fit and available. Considering Hazlewood’s form, he will be a great addition to our team,” Kasi Viswanathan said.

MS Dhoni’s CSK are currently placed second on the points table after Delhi Capitals after managing five wins in seven matches.

Josh Hazlewood was recently part of the Bangladesh tour

The tall and lanky fast bowler had an impressive outing against Bangladesh, picking up 8 wickets in 4 matches for his side. However, he couldn’t stop the Aussies from suffering a humiliating defeat by a 1-4 margin.

Josh Hazlewood has also been named in Australia’s squad for the T20 World Cup this year.
