The IPL governing council announced the schedule of the VIVO IPL 2021 which is all set to commence on 9th April 2021 in Chennai with the playoffs all set to take place in the newly built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The high octane league will take place in 6 different venues with all 8 teams playing in 4 out of the 6 venues listed.
Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai & Kolkata will be hosting the cash-rich league in India after the previous edition was held in the United Arab Emirates across three venues namely Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.
The three-time champions Chennai Super Kings will be playing at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata with none of the sides playing at their home venues to rule out the home advantage for every side this season. The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will kickstart their campaign when they go face to face against the runner-ups of IPL 2020 Delhi Capitals in Mumbai on 10th April 2021.

After completion of the Mumbai leg, Chennai Super Kings will then move to Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata for the remainder of the season. All sides will be traveling just thrice in the entire season to reduce commute and minimize the risk of the Corona Virus disease.
If in case the Whistle Podu franchise qualifies for the playoffs, they will then travel all the way from Kolkata to Ahemdabad for the final stages of the tournament. During the IPL 2021 auction, Chennai Super Kings were seen making some bold picks in order to fill in the gaps left void during IPL 2020 where they finished second last with 12 points under their belt. Chennai Super Kings bagged Krishanappa Gowtham for INR 9.25 Cr while Moeen Ali was bought for INR 7 Cr as their lone foreign pick in the auction.
