Team India thrashed England by an innings and 25 runs to win the series 3-1 and reach the ICC World Test Championship final. There have been debates going around whether the current Indian side is the best Test side of the era but former English skipper Michael Vaughan doesn’t feel so. He believes beating England in England’s seaming conditions will make this side the best Test side of the era.

Meanwhile, the chips were down for Virat Kohli & Co after losing the first Test in Chennai. But they held their calm and composure to win the series 3-1 from thereon. The addition of Axar Patel in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja has worked brilliantly as the all-rounder from Gujarat returned with 27 wickets while senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin accumulated 32 wickets.

On the batting from, it was Rohit Sharma, who changed the morale of the entire team in the second Test with a brilliant 150+ score. Rishabh Pant has also been scintillating with the bat along with good contributions from Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin in the lower-order. In the fourth and final Test, Pant and Sundar revived India from a tricky situation before Axar Patel joined the party and helping the host secure a crucial lead which was enough for them to win the match by an innings. Ashwin and Patel picked five wickets each to convincingly win the game with two days in hand.

India not the best Team of the era yet – Michael Vaughan

With consistent wins in home series and back-to-back victories in Australia, many former cricketers have opined that this side under the leadership of Virat Kohli is the best of the era. But Michael Vaughan doesn’t believe so. The former England skipper reckons that India can be ‘the best Test team of the era’ if they can beat the Brits on the latter’s home soil.

“India have been far too good … the last 3 Tests they have absolutely hammered England … If they can win in England they are without a doubt the best Test team of this era … but that will take some doing against the swinging ball,” Michael Vaughan wrote on Twitter.
