Former India cricketer Ashish Nehra feels the Delhi Capitals have an edge over the Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 2. The knockout match will be held on October 13 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 4 wickets in the eliminator, on the back of their twin spins, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy’s performance. On the other hand, the Delhi Capitals did not have the best of outings and lost the first qualifier against Chennai Super Kings. However, Ashish Nehra feels that the Sharjah wicket will suit the Delhi Capitals’ bowlers.

While previewing the Qualifier 2 match on Cricbuzz, Nehra said,
“KKR had the edge against RCB, but if you see Delhi’s team and even the way they played the last match, I would give Delhi the edge. KKR has good spinners, but this is the kind of pitch where even fast-bowlers can do well.
Nehra cited the example of Mohammed Siraj’s performance in the Eliminator. With the bowling arsenal that Delhi Capitals’ have, the former cricketer feels that they have an edge over KKR.
“Today, even Mohammed Siraj did well. DC have Nortje, Rabada and Avesh Khan. It’s not easy to play pacers on these pitches. Harshal Patel has done so well. It’s even harder to play the slower balls, so, despite KKR’s spin bowlers, I would give DC the edge 55-45,” said Ashish Nehra.
Kolkata Knight Riders know the ground better: Virender Sehwag feels KKR has the advantage
Former cricketer Virender Sehwag has expressed a different view to that of Ashish Nehra. He feels that the Eoin Morgan-led team has an advantage as they have played more matches in Sharjah this season.
The Kolkata Knight Riders have won all their three matches played at the ground so far in IPL 2021. In fact, they defeated the Delhi Capitals by three wickets in their previous encounter at the venue.
“I feel that KKR has played more on this ground, they know the ground better. They are the only team to have won batting first and bowling first in Sharjah. Other teams haven’t won so easily here. So I’ll say it’s 55-45 in favor of KKR,” said Virender Sehwag.
