IPL 2021, Match 11 Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings- Preview

Delhi Capitals take on Punjab Kings in match 11 of IPL 2021 in Mumbai on Sunday. Both these teams lost their previous encounters and thus will be looking only for a win. Heading into this game, Delhi are placed fourth on the points table while Punjab seventh. This is also the fifth game being played at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium. Out of the 56 league matches, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata & Bengaluru will host 10 matches each while Ahmedabad and Delhi will host 8 matches each. More about match 11 preview in detail below.

Both teams in the past have shown the habit of letting it loose after a good start. Delhi’s loss against Rajasthan Royals and Punjab’s loss against CSK have proved just the same. In this match, the consistency of both the teams will be tested. Kagiso Rabada did not have a good first game for the franchise. He bowled a spell of 30/2 including a 15-run over in the 19th.

Anrich Nortje has tested negative and is expected to make a comeback into the side possibly in place of Tom Curran. The Rabada-Nortje pair took over 50 wickets together last season and is expected to repeat the feat.

Punjab Kings Hold Edge Over Delhi Capitals

Delhi’s batting started well in the first game against CSK. It tapered off a bit against Rajasthan. Against Punjab, the usual suspects will need to deliver with the bat. Marcus Stoinis has not hit his strides in the first game and needs to find his form soon. In terms of balance Delhi are a better balanced than their opponents at this point in the tournament.

Punjab Kings, over the years, has delivered inconsistent performances. After a hard-earned win against the Royals, they were completely outplayed in their next game against CSK. Heading into this game, they would like to address their problem of inconsistency.

While KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal continues to be their premier scorers, Chris Gayle has not been at his best in the first two games. They have the likes of Dawid Malan and Moises Henriques and Chris Jordan in the line-up who can be able replacements in the side. It will be really interesting to see if they would like to make any changes to the playing XI.
