IPL 2021: “Old Yuzi Is Back”-Yuzvendra Chahal All Pumped As RCB Hits The Ground Running

Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is back with the franchise ahead of the UAE leg of IPL 2021. He was recently snubbed from the Indian T20 World Cup squad which was picked for the tournament. The event will be played in UAE and Oman between October 17-November 14. However, he has put all that behind and is focusing on the upcoming season.

The RCB Youtube handle shared a video of the first training session of the players after they reached the UAE. The likes of Glenn Maxwell, AB De Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal and Chahal himself were all part of that practice session.

Yuzvendra Chahal reflected back on his first training session back with the franchise.

“Obviously, the feeling was good, it was okay and I’m happy with the way I bowled today. I’m very pumped up, especially, you know, we’re good on the points table and we have a very good chance to stay at the top of the table and when you bowl well after a long time you always feel good. Today, I can say that the old Yuzi is back.”

The RCB leggie picked up just four wickets in his first seven games in the first half of IPL 2021. However, he looked the best in terms of control. The selectors picked Rahul Chahar and Varun Chakravarty as the two specialist leg spinners along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to complete India’s spin options.

Chahal has also reacted to his snub from the India squad. He has not been in good form in international cricket in recent times. That might be the reason he said that the selectors might have considered dropping him.

“Bad form was playing on my mind a bit, especially after the IPL. I sat down with my wife Dhanashree who helped me. She told me that every day you won’t take wickets, it’s just a bad phase. I knew that I was bowling well but sometimes in T20 cricket, it’s very hard to take wickets if a batsman doesn’t attack. It affects you when you don’t have wickets to show in the column,’’ said Chahal.
