Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings have hinted at ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle’s participation in the remainder of IPL 2021. The T20 blitz which was postponed on May 4 due to the COVID-19 crisis will resume on September 19 in the UAE.

As the franchises kickstart their preparation for the second half, Punjab Kings took to social media to drop a massive hint regarding the Jamaican batsman’s availability in IPL 2021. They shared a video of Chris Gayle practicing some big shots in the Punjab jersey and wrote:

“More of this is coming your way in a month’s time.”

Chris Gayle scored 178 runs in the first half of IPL 2021

The 41-year-old played the first eight matches for Punjab Kings in the initial stage of IPL 2021. He scored a total of 178 runs at an average of 25.42 in the first leg of IPL 2021 with his highest individual score of 46. Chris Gayle will look to better his performance as the KL Rahul-led side has a lot of catch-ups to do in the final leg of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Chris Gayle is one of the best players to have ever played the shortest form of the game. The southpaw is just 50 runs away from becoming the seventh batsman to breach the 5,000-run mark in the IPL. Gayle also holds the record for hitting most sixes and centuries in IPL history.

Punjab Kings are currently placed sixth in the points table with six points from eight matches. They begin their second-half campaign against Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 21 in Dubai.
