Rajasthan Royals have been deal with body blows ahead of the second half of the IPL 2021. Their main four overseas players Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Chris Morris will be missing the UAE leg due to various reasons. The second half of the season starts from September 19 with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians taking on each other in the first game.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals without their four overseas players might find it hard to construct a team for the remaining season. They are placed fifth in the points table with three wins from their first seven games. Sanju Samson will have a lot of things to consider once he resumes his leadership with the franchise.

In the meantime, Rajasthan Royals have responded with a witty response to a fan’s question of coping up with the absence of Buttler and Stokes from their batting line-up.

“No Archer, No Buttler, No Stokes (?) RR might need their Twitter admin to pad up for rest of the IPL,” a curious fan asked. The Royals Twitter admin responded to his question by posting an image of the new IPL 2021 poster featuring MS Dhoni with the tagline “Asli Picture Abhi Baaki Hai”.

Rajasthan Royals Sign Jos Buttler’s Replacement

Meanwhile, the franchise has roped in Glenn Phillips as a replacement ideally for Buttler who will miss the UAE leg for the birth of his second child. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman from Auckland is currently part of the Barbados Royals franchise in the CPL. The Royals play their first game of the second half against Punjab Kings in Dubai.

The Kiwi wicket-keeper batsman is a freelance T20 cricketer having played in the CPL and the Abu Dhabi T10 League before. The top-order batsman has 506 runs to his name in 25 T20Is with a strike rate of 149.70 and has also been involved in various cricket leagues around the world, most recently in The Hundred and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The Royals confirmed the joining of Phillips via a tweet.
