Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag is keen to use the Indian Premier League (IPL) stage to push his case for the national team. The Assam-born cricketer has been an integral part of the squad ever since he joined the franchise in 2019.
The U-19 World Cup winner didn’t had a good time in the first half of IPL 2021. However, he is keen to put a better show on display in the remainder of the tournament, when it begins on September 19 in the UAE.

Despite agreeing to the fact that it has been difficult to train during the monsoon season but Riyan Parag asserted that the camp in Nagpur did wonders for him.
âI think the first half of the IPL was decent for me, but I couldâve done better in terms of winning more matches for the Royals. But Iâm not going to be too harsh on myself, because I believe in my abilities, and through rigorous training, Iâm pretty sure I will be able to make a difference in the UAE. The tournament also presents me with the chance to perform to the best of my abilities and make a case for the senior national team,â Riyan Parag said in an official Rajasthan Royals release.Â
âIt has been hard to practice as the monsoon season is on and weâve been getting a fair amount of rain, but I think the exposure Iâve received during my time at the Royalsâ training facility in Nagpur has really helped. I had the opportunity to work on all three facets of my game, and Iâm really excited to keep building on that,â he added.Â

Adding further, Riyan Parag believes Rajasthan Royals, who are currently placed fifth in the points table, have a good chance of making it to the playoffs.
âI think we have a really good shot at making it to the playoffs. Weâre placed number fifth on the table, and weâve got seven more matches to play. Plus, we know the conditions in UAE really well from last season,” he added.Â
