Punjab Kings are currently placed sixth in the IPL 2021 points table are resume their campaign against Rajasthan Royals in Dubai on September 21. The BCCI announced the schedule of the second half of the season on July 25. All teams will play their remaining seven games between September 19 to October 15. A total of 31 games including the playoffs and the final will be played in this phase.
Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are the only teams to have played eight games in the first half of the season. Both sides will play their remaining six games in the second phase. Punjab will play three games in Dubai, two in Sharjah and one in Abu Dhabi in the second half.
KL Rahul will be back at leading the team once again. He would like to use the opportunity to cement his place in India’s T20 World Cup squad. He scored 331 runs from the first seven games that he played in the first half of the season. Rahul then went through a surgery and now is fit again after rehabilitation. He is currently with the Indian squad in England preparing for the Test series.
Another Punjab player who would like to make use of the second half of IPL 2021 is Mohammed Shami. He too is with the Indian squad in England prepping for the Test series against England. Punjab are currently placed sixth on the points table with just three wins from eight games with a net run-rate of -0.368.

The IPL 2021 was postponed by the BCCI after positive COVID cases emerged from various camps. The Indian board was then successful in getting the window they wanted between September-October ahead of the T20 World Cup. The marquee event will start just three days after the end of IPL 2021 on October 15.
