Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Sam Curran is likely to miss the first match of the second phase of IPL 2021 against defending champions Mumbai Indians on September 19 in Dubai owing to mandatory quarantine.
The all-rounder from England landed in the UAE on Wednesday to participate in the remainder of IPL 2021. He will now undergo a mandatory quarantine of six days which rules him out of the tie against Mumbai Indians. However, it won’t affect MS Dhoni & Co much as they have quality replacements in their side.

Sam Curran had an outstanding run in the first half of IPL 2021 where he scored 52 runs and picked up nine wickets in seven games. He is likely to play a pivotal role in the UAE conditions, where Curran was in brilliant form in the last IPL season.
CSK might receive another injury blow with star opener Faf du Plessis down with a calf injury he suffered during the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL). While the magnitude of his injury is still unknown, the Super Kings management would want the Proteas cricketer to recover ahead of the first match.
CSK positioned second in the IPL 2021 points table

Despite losing the first game of theĀ IPL 2021, CSK managed to crawl back, winning five of their next six games to find themselves in the second spot after the Delhi Capitals.
MS Dhoni & Co will hope to continue their winning run in the UAE, where they struggled during IPL 2020. They finished seventh in the group stages and failing to qualify for the playoffs for the first time ever in the tournament’s history in IPL 2020.
They are currently second in the points table after Delhi Capitals with 10 points from seven matches.
