The Sunrisers Hyderabad had a disastrous Indian Premier League 2021 season. Former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta feels that things were not good in the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s dressing room, which could be a reason behind their performance.
Sunrisers Hyderabad won only three out of their fourteen matches in the tournament. They finished last on the points table with just six points in their pocket. The franchise took a big decision of changing their skipper mid-way in the tournament. Kane Williamson replaced David Warner as the leader of the team. However, the fortunes did not change much for the franchise.
While reflecting on Sunrisers Hyderabad’s performance in the season, Deep Dasgupta said that changing captaincy mid-way and dropping Warner indicates that something was wrong in the dressing room. In a video on Deep Dasgupta’s YouTube channel, he said:
“It was quite clear from the first leg that things were not right. In any franchise, if the captain is changed mid-way through the season, and your main player is dropped, that means something is wrong in the dressing room. “
“The good thing about SRH is that this is their one-off season, they have been pretty consistent but now there have to be some changes in the franchise. They might not have too many players that they would want to retain. Several players are past their prime and the youngsters did not develop as well,” Deep added.
We may not have had the best of seasons this time around, but the only reason we kept going again and again is because of your unconditional love and support.

Chennai Super Kings’ middle order is a concern: Deep Dasgupta
Deep Dasgupta also spoke about the Chennai Super Kings campaign in the Indian Premier League 2021 season. He pointed out that their middle-order is a cause of concern heading into the playoffs.
The Chennai Super Kings finished the league stages with 18 points and secured a second spot on the points table. They will face the table-toppers, the Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1. Deep Dasgupta said,
“CSK was the biggest surprise of the first leg but their middle order is a concern. They have lost their last 3 games so the momentum is not with them. In those losses, they have lost an early wicket. Middle-order has only made run in patches. Jadeja has played some crucial knocks but apart from that the rest have not contributed.”
“Moeen Ali has not fired in the second leg. The good thing about the CSK camp is their experience, that is very valuable and that should help them to bounce back,” Dasgupta concluded.
