Delhi Capitals assistant coach Pravin Amre has stated that Shreyas Iyer has regained his fitness and is preparing for the Indian Premier League 2021 UAE leg. Iyer dislocated his shoulder during the India-England ODI series earlier this year, which ruled him out of action for a few months.
The right-handed batsman underwent surgery and has completed his rehabilitation. Shreyas Iyer is all set to represent the Delhi Capitals in the UAE of IPL 2021. However, there has been no official confirmation whether he will lead the team or not.
Pravin Amre, who worked with Shreyas Iyer post his surgery spoke about the batsman comeback in the team.
“It’s always hard for any cricketer to come back after an injury. Our entire team, especially Delhi Capitals’ strength and conditioning coach Rajinikanth Sivagnanam, Assistant Physio Dhananjay Kaushik, and Physio Patrick Farhart worked hard when Shreyas was undergoing rehabilitation. Even the National Cricket Academy played an important role during Shreyas’ recovery period. Getting his shoulder strength back was important for him and he has been hitting the ball as long as anybody in the nets,’’ said Pravin Amre as quoted by the Gulf news.

We are looking to start from scratch and not show any complacency: Pravin Amre
Pravin Amre also spoke about the preparations of the Delhi Capitals team for the upcoming UAE leg of IPL 2021. He said that the team will look to start fresh and not be complacent.
“We have to look at the remainder of the season as a fresh one. There has been a long break after the first half and we will be playing in different conditions and wickets. ‘We are looking to start from scratch and not show any complacency after a brilliant performance in the first half of the tournament. We will look to play with the same intensity that we showed in our first match of the VIVO IPL 2021 against Chennai Super Kings,” Pravin Amre said.
The Delhi Capitals are currently the table-toppers in the Indian Premier League 2021. They have won six out of the eight matches played in the first phase. The Delhi Capitals will resume their campaign on September 22 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
