‘Baby AB’ Dewald Brevis is excited to be part of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the Indian Premier League. After his heroics in the U19 World Cup 2022, Dewald attracted a decent bidding war at the IPL auctions table. He was signed by the Mumbai Indians for 3 crores.

Dewald was the leading run-scorer in the U-19 World Cup in the West Indies, scoring 506 runs at an average of 84.33 and smashing two hundred and three fifties in six games. His performance earned him the Player of the Tournament award.

In an interview with the Mumbai Indians team, Dewald expressed that the five-time IPL champions have always been one of his favourite teams. He also revealed that watching the Mumbai Indians documentary ‘Cricket Fever’ on Netflix gave him an insight into the team’s culture.

“MI has always been one of my favorite teams. We were in isolation before the U19 World Cup and I watched the Netflix documentary ‘Cricket Fever. I can sense that familiar feeling and how the players are one big family,” said Brevis.

“I think it will be tougher to face Bumrah, I have seen him bowl live at Supersport Park (in Centurion) for India against South Africa and it is surreal that I will be facing him in the nets soon,” said Dewald Brevis.

The Indian Premier League 2022 season kick starts on March 26 in Mumbai.
