IPL 2022: Jofra Archer’s 8-Year Old Tweet Resurfaces After Mumbai Indians Buy Him In Auction

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians roped in ace fast bowler Jofra Archer at IPL 2022 mega auction. Archer’s former franchise Rajasthan Royals were keen to buy back the ace fast bowler but Mumbai had the money in their bank to outpower the other bidders.

Archer entered the IPL 2022 mega auction at a reserve price of INR 2 crore. Rajasthan were in the race for a significant period before Sunrisers Hyderabad joined the bidding war. However, Mumbai Indians were desperate to rope in Jofra Archer from the beginning and in the end, they had the last laugh.

Meanwhile, soon after Mumbai roped in the English cricketer an eight-year-old tweet from Archer has resurfaced on the internet. Archer has always been funnily referenced to as a prophet following his tweets from years ago, dug up by fans, which seemed to predict certain events correctly in cricket.

Meanwhile, there is still no clarity over Archer’s availability in IPL 2022, considering he has been struggling with injury concerns in the last year.

Interestingly, Archer was not part of the initial list of 1,214 players who had registered for the IPL auction but his name was added to the list, upon request from the franchises and in consultation with the player, when the final list of 590 was shared.

To see Bumrah and Archer bowling in tandem ‘will be worth the wait’ – Zaheer Khan

Former India cricketer Zaheer Khan, Mumbai’s director of cricket operations, stated that the prospect of seeing Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah bowling in tandem will be worth the wait.

“You are eagerly waiting for the partnership to go on the field and so am I,” he said. “To see two legendary fast bowlers bowling in tandem and I’m glad that it seems possible and will be worth the wait,” he added.
