Delhi Capitals (DC) bowler Chetan Sakariya was all praise for his skipper Rishabh Pant. Sakariya expressed that the wicket-keeper takes up the pressure and the responsibilities on himself during matches. He also lavished praise on the coach Ricky Ponting.

Chetan Sakariya was benched in the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. He got the opportunity to contribute to the team in the second half. The pacer gave away just 17 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders, picking the wicket of Aaron Finch.

Chetan Sakariya lauded the Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant. The left-arm pacer expressed that the wicket-keeper takes the responsibility of taking the team out of pressure situations.

“Rishabh Bhaiya is very calm and he takes all the pressure and responsibility on himself. He always takes the job of taking the team out of pressure situations. Whenever the other players do well, he gives them credit, but whenever difficult situations come, he is the first one to raise his hand to take the team out of trouble.”

“I am just impressed with the way Ricky Ponting thinks” – Chetan Sakariya

Speaking about his stint with the Delhi Capitals so far, and playing under Ricky Ponting, Sakariya said that he is blown away by the former Australian captain’s technical acumen.

“I have been here for a long time now. I am just impressed with the way Ricky Ponting thinks. Whenever a difficult situation comes, Ponting tries to motivate the players and he also tries to lighten up the room by cracking a joke and personally, he speaks to the players and asks them to be ready for the game. He focuses on each and every player and I have been impressed with this trait of his.”

The Delhi Capitals are seventh on the points table with eight points. They have won four out of their nine matches so far in the tournament. The Rishabh Pant-led team will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday at the Brabourne Stadium.
