Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are currently facing each other in Match 29 of IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Meanwhile, the Titans are missing the service of their captain Hardik Pandya, who has been in superlative form since the start of IPL 2022.

Incidentally, Hardik suffered a groin injury during their last game against Rajasthan Royals (RR). He walked off the ground holding his hamstring midway through his third over. Vijay Shankar had bowled the remaining balls of the over.

Meanwhile, today the captaincy duties for GT were taken by Rashid Khan. He said during the toss, “Bit of stiffness in the groin area for Hardik, so as a team we didn’t want to take a chance. He will rest and hopefully be back for the next game.”

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans made two changes in their playing XI against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade and injured Hardik Pandya made way for Wriddhiman Saha and Alzzari Joseph.

Hardik Pandya catches up with MS Dhoni ahead of the CSK fixture

Ahead of the match against CSK, Hardik Pandya met his dear friend MS Dhoni, whom he considered an idol. He posted a couple of pictures with the former Indian captain on social media and wrote, “My main man” in the caption.

Hardik Pandya has looked in great touch since the beginning of IPL 2022. In 5 matches, he has scored 228 runs, including 2 half-centuries. Against Rajasthan Royals, he played an unbeaten knock of  87 runs from 52 deliveries at a strike rate of 167.3. His knock propelled GT to 192/4. Earlier he had scored an unbeaten fifty against SRH as well.

Except the last game where he got injured, Pandya has bowled his full quota of overs in every game. The medium pacer has picked 4 wickets in the season so far, conceding runs at an economy of 7.5.
