The Mumbai Indians have signed Sandeep Warrier as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement for the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). He will be joining the Mumbai Indians before their first match of the season, which will take place on Sunday, April 2 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru.
The Indian Premier League released a statement announcing the Mumbai Indians’ latest signing. Sandeep Warrier has played IPL matches so far, picking up two wickets. He played an IPL match in 2021 and will return to the tournament this season. Overall, Sandeep Warrier has taken 62 T20 wickets in 68 matches, with 3/19 as his best figure.
“MI have brought Sandeep Warrier on board for INR 50 Lakh,” said the statement released by the IPL.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has been officially ruled out of the tournament as he hasn’t recovered from his injury. He underwent surgery in New Zealand and is on his way to attaining full fitness. The pacer is likely to miss the World Test Championship final against Australia in June and might get fit for the 50-over World Cup which will take place later this year in India.

The Mumbai Indians will be looking to win their sixth Indian Premier League title this season. The team boasts of some talented individuals who will have to live up to their expectations in the tournament. Ahead of the tournament, Mumbai Indians have been dealt with a couple of injury blows. Along with Jasprit Bumrah, Jhye Richardson has also been ruled out of the season. The team is yet to name a replacement.
